The Kansas City Chiefs don’t allow it their No. 1 ranked seed in the AFC come first — even with a possible back-to-back-to-back Super Bowl win on the line.

“I haven’t heard anybody talk about anything ‘three-peat’ (or) anything like that,” the tight end Travis Kelceone of the team’s playoff captains, he said in a preview for his upcoming ESPN interview with Chris Berman. “Right now we’re focused on the Houston Texans.”

The Chiefs, who are ranked No. 1 in the AFC Conference, take on the Texans in a divisional playoff game on Saturday, January 18. The winner advances to the conference championship against the Buffalo Bills or Baltimore Ravens. Of course, the AFC champion will secure a place in the Super Bowl against the NFC title holder.

“Anybody can get beat in the playoffs if you don’t come in with the right mentality and the right mindset that dates back to training camp and throughout the season,” Kelce, 35, explained before Saturday’s football game. “We have such a veteran team. We have so many leaders in so many different ways. Guys are stepping up and guys just understand the task at hand.”

If the Chiefs win the Super Bowl next month, they will become the first NFL team to win the championship three times in a row. The big game in 2024 was especially special for Kelce. Besides winning the trophy, he could celebrate the moment with a kiss from a girl Taylor Swiftwhom he began dating in 2023. The pop star, 35, has since become a fixture at his football matches and is expected to make an appearance on Saturday.

“You know that, baby,” Kelce teased her presence during the performance at The Pat McAfee Show earlier this week. “You know this is playoff football, man. … I feel excited. I’m ‘feeling 22’ again (as in Swift’s song), baby. Let’s go!”

Days later, Kelce gushed about his “very strong relationship” with Swift and her support on game day. (She often arrives at KC’s Arrowhead Stadium decked out in team gear and colors, with custom jewelry honoring Kelce’s No. 87 jersey.)

“Me and Taylor are happy and I couldn’t be happier to have that confidence and comfort off the court and all the support I could want in the stadium,” Kelce said on Wednesday, January 15, episode of The Stephen A. Smith Show. “She loves coming to Arrowhead and coming to the games and cheering me on, so I’ve got all the support in the world to keep chasing my dreams.”
