You probably wore lined shoes most of your life. Don’t expect to throw them away and be able to make the same mileage – to walk or run – in barefoot shoes. To some extent you have to learn how to run and walk. This will be aware of the effort on your part and can be very difficult. Don’t only learn but you too Introduction Some built -in habits. The key is to go slowly. Very, very, absurdly slow.
How you approach barefoot shoes depends on what you are looking for. I accidentally run to me, which has done nice because I am had to slowly (I sucked it). If you are an ultra-marathoner right now and want to try barefoot shoes, you will have a hard time staying. If you are somewhere between these columns, it will still be difficult not to overdo it. Focus the discipline you usually use for distance in not doing the distance.
If you don’t know where to start, check YouTube channel Graham TuttleEspecially the footwear exercises. They will help you develop the power of your feet and the ankle you miss if you come from years of lined shoes and help reduce muscle pain when you start barefoot. Tuttle also offers some paid programs directed to give you a more personalized guide (I didn’t try any of that). Another YouTube channel I was useful for is Movnjate channelwhich is not specific to barefoot, but there are many good tips of barefoot sprinkled by its content. And if you didn’t read Christopher McDougall, both Born to run and Natural born heroes They have fun with barefoot. Really, Born to run He probably did more to popularize barefoot running than anything else since the shoe was born in the early 1970s.
It is also worth saying that barefoot shoes are not zero. For more than a year, I wore barefoot shoes, regular shoes for other tasks, and sandals for the rest of the time. It’s not all or nothing. If you go on a barefoot and then chase your favorite conversation immediately after that, that’s fine. It is equally important to know that everyone is different. It took me six months to completely move on to barefoot shoes. But that’s just me. It may take you two months or two years. Go with your own pace and don’t worry about the experiences of others.
