The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Teddy Mellencamp she was not always firm in her decision to divorce Edwin Arroyave.
“We went to this whole couple’s therapy thing and it came out to me as an introvert, and it was shocking information to everybody, even though I’ve been saying it my whole life,” Mellencamp, 43, said on the Thursday, Jan. 16, episode of her “Diamonds in the Rough” podcast. “I’m naturally an introvert, so I enjoy my alone time (and) I need to recharge my batteries.”
Despite finding solace in the quiet moments, she wasn’t ready for the greater loneliness of divorce. (Mellencamp split from Arroyave, 47, in the fall of 2024 and filed for divorce that November.)
“There are moments that I feel now, in which I feel very lonely and I don’t know if these feelings of loneliness mean that I made a mistake or this is just something I have to get used to and this is a new change in my life,” Mellencamp asked, trying to hold back tears. “Oh my god, I’m so embarrassed to be getting emotional, but that’s such a confusing part of all of this.”
She continued, “Should you pass or should you give (time)?”
Mellencamp’s podcast co-host, Erika Jayne — whose personal life hit the headlines in 2020 after splitting with the now-disbarred lawyer Thomas Girardi — she announced to share her support.
“She’s in the thick of it right now, and it’s very fresh and very difficult,” Jayne, 53, said on Thursday’s episode. “I feel for her because none of this is easy and to pull yourself together and even today to be on the podcast and talk about it. You know, Teddy, you need to get some rest. If you hadn’t said you were feeling lonely, I would have been worried if you were.”

“I’ve talked about it in therapy, but I’m almost drawn to another chaotic situation,” Mellencamp explained. “I don’t want to give too much away about my parents or anything like that, but obviously my dad (John Mellencamp) was a rock star. He met a girl at the Rainbow Room and she was my mom and they had kids (while) he was already married. Like, everything was like – a show.”
Teddi continued: “There have been a lot of ups and downs in my life, and my only goal has ever been… to give my children stability. I don’t know if it’s the loneliness or the fear, (but) I also don’t feel like I’m enough, like, all those things.”
Teddi and Arroyave to share daughters Slate, 12, and Dove, 4, as well as son Cruz, 10. (Arroyave is also father to daughter Isabelle, 15, from a previous relationship.)
