The singer-songwriter (real name Solána Imani Rowe) shared her excitement about release of the film before the vow of silence began via a post on Instagram on Friday, January 17.
“Man listen. I’m in India and they’re about to take my phone in 7 hours for a 10 day vow of silence😭 but I DID NOT MISS RELEASE DAY!!” SZA, 35, wrote. “I swear to God that this was the most unique experience in my life!”
Referring to her producer Issa Rae and costar Keke PalmerSZA added, “When I signed up for this movie, I literally wasn’t thinking about a single thing other than ‘damn, I love Issa and Keke, kudos.’ I didn’t think about how I was actively on tour and how I wouldn’t make it to rehearsals or preparations, I didn’t think about how I had the luxury of finishing or the factor that I actually had to be on camera at any moment 😂😭 (like duh, dummy.) That sounds crazy but i love respect and admire those women so much!! NO THOUGHTS JUST YES.”

SZA went on to praise the rest of the team involved and emphasized how much effort they put into achieving the finished product.
“@tiffanyblackness you are the best acting coach I could ever ask for! We literally met on set 😂 you got me in shape in real time .. hurrah 🐐!! Coming out of my shell, facing myself and the world for this film was a transformative experience,” SZA continued.
“With each step, I shed more skin and gain more respect for the process. @keke you are a blessing. daily. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me and see me beyond prejudice. You held me back in ways I will never be able to post (let’s just say if it has to fall, it will 🤭😭). You are a girl and you are not for playing. @issarae and @lawrencelamont thank you for always seeing something in me!!”
The “Kill Bill” singer. he continued to joke: “You all are crazy for choosing someone with no acting experience as an actress 😂but damn !!! I WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR YOUR PATIENCE, TRUST AND UNDERSTANDING. You both need to know, this has changed my life.”
