“It is an honor to announce Jon Voight, Mel Gibsonand Sylvester Stalloneto be special ambassadors to a great but very troubled place, Hollywood, California,” the president-elect, 78, wrote via Social truth on Thursday, January 16. “They will serve as my special emissaries for the purpose of bringing Hollywood, which has lost many jobs to foreign countries in the last four years, BACK – BIGGER, BETTER AND STRONGER THAN EVER!”
Trump added that three “very talented people” will serve as his “eyes and ears” in the entertainment sphere.
“I will do what they suggest,” he continued. “It will again be, like the United States itself, the Golden Age of Hollywood!”
After the news broke, Gibson, 69, hinted that he learned of his appointment at the same time as the rest of the world, but said he was excited about the new role.
“I got the tweet at the same time as all of you and was just as surprised,” the Oscar winner said in a statement to Us Weekly on Thursday. “Nevertheless, I heeded the call. It is my duty as a citizen to provide all the help and insight I can. Any chance this place comes with an ambassador’s residence?”
Stallone, 78, Gibson and Voight, 86, who are all award-winning actors, have been vocal supporters of Trump over the years. Stallone appeared at Trump’s Florida home in Mar-a-Lago and introduced him during the event in November 2024. For his part, Gibson has publicly endorsed Trump in the 2024 election.
In addition to his Hollywood ambassadors, Trump has named several other members he plans to welcome into his team sooner rather than later his inauguration on Monday, January 20.
Trump will be sworn in as the 47th president on Monday, and the occasion will feature several musical guests, including Carrie Underwood, On Jason’s side, Billy Ray Cyrus, Gavin DeGraw, Rascal Flatts, Kid Rock, The Village People and more.
“I love our country and am honored to be invited to sing at the inauguration and be a small part of this historic event,” Underwood, 41, said in a statement. “I am humbled to be able to answer the call at a time when we all need to come together in a spirit of unity and look to the future.”
