A recent final for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew finally shed some light on the mysterious force user Jude Law, Jod Nawood. Growing up as a poor child, he was taken in by a Jedi and trained in the ways of the Force. He’s been on the run since watching her die, and it turns out we’d meet her during the sequence.
On Instagramactress Yasmine Al Massri (whom you heard as Morana on Castlevania) posted photos of herself as Jod’s teacher, in Jedi clothing, and doing a brief lightsaber training session which would likely mean she fought before her death. It was, she says, “the shortest active job I’ve ever done,” but an impact nonetheless: After one of her scenes finished production, she recalled saying Skeleton Crew the team “just created the first Arab Jedi.” To Massri’s dismay, the scene was not the part Skeleton Crew the finale, but she endures it calmly. “These things happen,” she continued. “That made the most sense [job] to the child in me. […] I can’t help but share my experience and feelings.”
Now that Jod has officially confirmed that he was a Jedi in training and had a teacher at one point in his life, it raises some questions. Which of them survived Order 66 or were they both able to escape the Jedi Purge? Besides, who is she — neither Skeleton Crew the finale or Massri’s post names a character and it seems like she should have one. If the play wins one more seasonmaybe we’ll learn more about her and Jod’s relationship and how he went from a Jedi survivor to a pirate with many false identities.
