Harris explained that two days of effort led to a “red” and “inflamed” recovery site that scared her to think she took significant steps backwards. “I was immediately so worried that I basically canceled all the goodness of surgery and the first 10 days of recovery, and now I was afraid that I had either infection or that my implant was rejected,” she said. “I wasn’t sure what was going on. While Harris continues her recovery, she added that “the new goal is to ensure that my body is not hosting any circulating tumor cells that would decide to settle on the host organ.”
Harris added that her husband, Michael HessAnd two daughters, Josselyn, 17, and Hillary, 14 years old, help her discover a new level of normality. “You want to go back to normal or whatever is new,” she said. “And so if this could be a stain on our daughter’s memory radar, it would make me very happy.”
