Pope Francis’ state is still “critical” after having suffered a “long -term respiratory crisis like asthma,” Vatican said earlier on Saturday.
The Pope is “more bad than yesterday” and received blood transfusion, the statement said.
The Vatican said that the 88-year-old was awake and in an armchair, but demanded “oxygen with high flow” and his forecast “remains kept”.
The pope is treated with pneumonia in both lungs at Gemelli Hospital in Rome.
He was first admitted on February 14 after he had difficulty breathing for several days.
Earlier, the Vatican announced that Pope Francis would not appear in public to make a prayer with the pilgrims on Sunday, which means that he would miss the event for the second week.
On Friday, his doctors said he had no immediate risk for his life, but he “was not of danger.”
