
Kenny Law, who starred in the Discovery Channel documentary series Moonshinersdied. He was 68 years old.
Kenny’s death was announced via a post on Facebook by Law’s Choice Distillery on Wednesday, January 15th.
“It is with sadness that we announce that Everett ‘Kenny’ Law passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. 🕊️”, the announcement reads. “We will share his obituary as soon as possible. Thank you to everyone so far for the outpouring of love, support and prayers. ❤️🩹”
The post was accompanied by a photo of the third-generation Virginia-based distiller sitting by a creek holding a bottle of moonshine.
The official cause of death has not been released. However, Kenny’s cousin Henry Lawwho ran Law’s Choice Distillery with Kenny, told TMJ on Thursday, Jan. 16, that Kenny passed away at a local hospital after several health problems over the past few years.
According to Henry, Kenny suffered a heart attack in 2024 and had heart problems. In addition, he battled diabetes amid health problems, per TMJ.
Kenny was best known for acting in Moonshinerswhich premiered in 2011 and is currently in its 14th season. According to Discovery, the series follows “a diverse group of people who live in Appalachia and carry on a 200-year-old tradition passed down by their ancestors, making moonshine.”

Discovery Australiaat Kenny’s Moonshiners costar Amanda Bryant32, paid tribute to the late distiller via social media.
“Last night we lost a true legend, Kenny Law from our Moonshiner family,” she wrote via Facebook. “I will miss you, it was an honor to know you and call you my friend. Rest Easy Big Guy.”
She added: “Prayers for the entire Law family at this time. They are my dear friends and my heart breaks for each and every one of them. Rest in peace Kenny Law, much respect always.”
Official Moonshiners The Facebook page also paid tribute to Kenny with a touching post following his death.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Kenny Law. He has been a valued member of our Moonshiners community since season eight,” the post read. “We express our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. Shine on, Kenny.”
According to his obituary, Kenny was survived by “his daughter and son-in-law, Kenzie and Nathan Wright; grandchildren, Atlas and Fox Wright; brothers, David Law and Ronnie (Suzanne) Law; cousin, Henry Lee Law who was like a brother to him; and many beloved aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins.”
