“I actually went off really quickly and did a show in Australia and I had one day off before the show,” Perry, 40, recalled on Friday, Jan. 17. TikTok a video with a British radio show Capital. “I had one day off and I said, ‘Hey girl, I’m coming to the show,’ and she was so excited.”
She continued: “I was so excited. People gave me bracelets, and I think Rita Ora gave me a bracelet. I loved it. It just is as a large community — a lovely, sweet community.”
Perry attended one of the Swift’s shows for February 2024 in Sydney, later meeting a fellow pop star backstage.
“I have to see her and we have to catch up with her,” Perry said Capitalreferring to the Instagram selfie the couple took to capture the moment. “I love her very much.”
Swift, 35, and Perry became friends in 2009 after they both made their first mark on the music scene. They later fueled speculation of a feud after dating each other John Mayer and rumors surfaced that Perry had picked up Swift’s backup dancers for her own tour.
“She did something so horrible. I said, ‘Oh, we’re just pure enemies.’ And it wasn’t even about a guy! It had to do with work,” Swift claimed Rolling Stone in 2014. “She basically tried to sabotage the whole arena. She tried to hire a bunch of people below me. And I’m surprisingly non-confrontational – you wouldn’t believe how much I hate conflict. So now I have to avoid her. It’s awkward and I don’t like it.”

“I just thought, you know, she was about to embark on something new and big and she needed support,” Perry said is in KIIS 1065 Show Kyle & Jackie O in July 2018, referring to her and Swift’s cameo in the music video Reputation Tour. “And really, while I was finishing mine, I realized how much we have in common. And there’s maybe only five other people in the world who can have the same kind of conversation and understand where we’re coming from, and that we should celebrate our togetherness and our friendship and be able to be there for each other.”
