James Van Der Beek is all for a Dawson’s Creek reunion — even if it’s completely fake.
Van Der Beek, 47, recently put his stamp on a series of AI-generated photos posted on social media of him and his former colleagues Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson and Michelle Williams.
“Merry Christmas everyone with these beautiful photos of the quartet together,” fan account 90screek wrote fake reunion footage cast via Instagram on December 24, 2024.
Van Der Beek revealed the images on Tuesday, January 14, replying in the comments section, “Cute!!!”
Among Photos made with artificial intelligence is a group shot of Van Der Beek, Williams, 44, Holmes, 46, and Jackson, 46, huddled together in front of a Christmas tree. Another photo shows the two male actors with Williams wrapped in snow.
Pictures with a holiday theme were also shown Van Der Beek in a Christmas sweater smiling with Williams and standing in the snow with Holmes.
Van Der Beek played Dawson Leery WB series from 1998 to 2003. Holmes portrayed his best friend and childhood love Joey Potter, while Jackson played their second best friend and Joey’s true love, Pacey Witter. Williams, meanwhile, was a jittery Jen Lindley.
While the teen drama ended over two decades ago, the cast did reunited from time to time.
One of their most memorable gatherings happened in 2018 when the stars posed Entertainment Weekly in honor of the 20th anniversary of the premiere.
“I think we’ve all kind of seen each other over the years, but not all together. And never long enough,” Holmes told the paper at the time.
Despite their physical distance, the actors seem to have each other’s backs. When Van Der Beek published his cancer diagnosis in November 2024, another one Dawson’s Creek costar Occupy Philipps she showed him her love through social networks.
“My wonderful friend, sending you and your beautiful family all the love and prayers for your healing and full recovery ❤️,” Philipps, who played Joey’s college roommate Audrey Liddell on the show, wrote via Instagram.
It was at this time that Van Der Beek found himself struggling stage 3 colorectal cancer. “I’m very cautiously optimistic,” he said People in November 2024 “I am in a place of healing; my energy level is great.”
While celebrating Thanksgiving, the actor opened up about his “tough year” via Instagram.
“I am grateful for everything. Because of the huge life redirection cancer put in my way,” added Van Der Beek. “For the gift of knowing what it feels like to have friends who are going through it on such a deep level, and in ways that I could never ask for if I wasn’t going through it.”
He concluded: “I am grateful to each and every one of you who reached out and sent good vibes and prayers. It all comes down to making a difference.”
