As the first phase of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza intended for an end, it was once again questioned.
After the last six living hostages of Israel were released into this phase, more than 600 Palestinian prisoners had to be released in exchange – the largest number so far to get rid of one move.
But that was now Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delayed indefinitelywith his request that Hamas must stop what he called “cynical use of hostages for propaganda purposes.” Hamas in turn accused Israel of intentionally trying to disrupt the fire interruption agreement.
It is the latest big blow to the road that is ultimately intended to lead to the constant end of hostilities and the beginning of the gauze renovation.
Israel complained of chaotic scenes in one of the first traditions, saying that the physical safety of hostages was put in danger. Then Israel said Hamas had violated the terms of the agreement without letting a female civil hostage, Arbel Yehud.
In response, he delayed the opening of access to hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to return to north of Gaza for 48 hours. This was resolved when Arbel Yehud was released by additional handover before the next one was scheduled for next Saturday.
Hamas later accused Israel of not fulfilling his obligations to allow heavy machines, tents and caravans to Gaza. Then he said he would not do the next hand over the hostage that it was scheduled.
This prompted threats to both Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump that all war would continue in Gaza if hostages were not released as agreed. Since the clock marked, Hamas agreed to let them go.
And only in the last few days, the discovery that Hamas’s body handed over Thursday Shiri drink It turned out to be not her. This was triggered by a new anger and shock in Israel, where the pictures of Shiri who are trying to protect their two young children while abducted on October 7, 2023, are considered to be the most powerful symbol of the horror of that day.
Netanyahu condemned Hamas for calling “cruel and evil violations” of the agreement. Once again, the certificate kept a trail only at the last minute Hamas, providing another body within one day that this time he really proved to be hers.
All these incidents showed how fragile the process of interrupting the fire remains. They could also contribute to the talks about the fact in the second phase – because of the beginning of this month – they have not yet started. The weather was running out, with the first phase that would end in a week.
Hamas offered to let go of the remaining hostages because of the second phase liberated in one move, but only if Israel pulled all his forces out of Gaza and war is a permanent end.
Israel has requested a complete disarmament of Hamas, which he has rejected so far. The ceremonies of the managed stage on every handover of the soils, which Netanyahu has so strongly condemned, are intended to show that it is still a force to be counted in in the gauze.
In Israel, the voices on the right request of the Government continues its war against Hamas, while the hostage families – which supported most of Israel – say that the insurance of the release of the remaining hostages is what is important above and beyond all.
Trump’s plan for Gaza brought new uncertainty to the equation. The third phase of the tribute should put a gauze on the way to renovation and renovation.
The Arab states are rushing to come up with a concrete alternative proposal in which Palestinians would continue to live in Gaza while renewed, instead of being removed from the enclave as foreseen by Trump’s plan.
Future gauze management also remains a key point oficing, with Israel, Hamas, Palestinian rule and Arab countries that seemed to have contradictory proposals.
These issues will require difficult negotiations, which will be carried out due to the constant risk of returning to war, for which some on both sides continue to be advocated.
But for now, mediators from Egypt, Qatar and the US may only reduce their jobs only to get the first phase of the ceasefire over the line.
