Revealing that fans DMed her to see if she was breastfeeding her child, the ex Bachelor described her situation in detail.
“Okay, first of all, both my sister and I were formula-fed babies. So I feel like it was always in my plan,” Dorfman said. “And then I was going to use a breast pump to feed her breast milk so I knew how much she was getting.”
Dorfman said her baby’s unexpected stay in intensive care, where Harper was formula-fed, changed her feeding plans.
“So I tried to express my milk at the hospital, but my milk didn’t come in yet,” Dorfman continued. “She was actually doing really well on the formula so we brought a lot of it home from the hospital. I tried to give up a few times when we got home and my milk supply still hadn’t arrived.”

So that, I think, stopped the pumping as well.” The reality star was thinking of her return to the hospital after she was discharged after the birth of her baby, as a result of two hematomas, which are closed wounds from which blood pools cannot drain, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
Dorfman, who married Hart in Italy in May 2023, said she tried to breastfeed “one or two more times” but failed to produce milk.
“The strange thing is that I never had any pain,” Dorfman added. “I didn’t have bloating, I didn’t have those side effects that people talk about when they stop pumping. I just kind of skipped over it. I don’t know if it’s because my milk supply just never came and never will or if I missed an opportunity or if it’s honestly just a plan that made its own plan. But here we are.”
Dorfman added that Harper is making progress as she approaches one month in the world. “I hope this story helps someone,” Dorfman said. “I don’t know why there is so much judgment and stigma when it comes to breastfeeding or formula feeding or not using one or the other. But that’s my story. We stick to it.”
