I won’t lie, Kylie and Jason Kelcethere is an engagement story Our laughing out loud.
“His proposal is perfect for us,” Kylie, 32, said on the Sunday, Jan. 12, episode of Allison Kuch“Sunday Sports Club” podcast.. “We dated, I think it was three years before he proposed. It was the weekend of training camp, so I was completely convinced that we wouldn’t get engaged for another year. … When football starts, it’s football. There is nothing else.”
According to Kylie, the couple went to her parents’ house for dinner on one of Jason’s few days off before the NFL season started, bringing their dog along for the ride. As the couple prepared to leave, Jason, now 37, stalled.
“We get outside, get in the car, ready to go, and Jason turns around and says, ‘I’ve got to run back,'” Kylie recalled. “And I said, ‘Really? This is the time you must take as—? … Hurry up.’”
Kylie waited in the car while Jason went back inside. “Unbeknownst to me, (he) sought my parents’ permission to ask me to marry him,” she said. “So it comes out less than five minutes later. I know my husband. That was not enough time to realize as—. He got back in the car and I said, ‘Get back in and finish your job’.”
Kylie told Jason that she refused to stop as they drove home, but he continued to insist that she was fine. “He just keeps quiet and fidgets all the time. He says, ‘I shouldn’t consider it—” she said.
The couple were still in the driveway when Jason finally popped the question. “He turned and said: “This isn’t the most romantic way to do this, but you need to get out of the truck,” Kylie continued. “And as soon as he said ‘romantic’, I immediately knew what was happening. Romance is not something this man is not well versed in.”
Kylie “immediately started crying” – and doesn’t remember much else. “I fainted. I have no idea what that man told me. I’m pretty sure he asked me to marry him. I’m not 100 percent sure, but it was a ring and I put it on,” she teased.
The proposal happened “right on the front lawn of my parents’ house” with no photo or video evidence of the milestone. “Honestly, he hit that part,” Kylie added. “It was perfect.”
She went on to joke, “I felt a little guilty about the fact that it was a whole conversation about taking it as— which led up to it.”
Jason and Kylie matched on Tinder when she was in college. “I sent him a pickup line. I said, ‘I need a LifeAlert. I fell in love with you and I can’t get up,'” Kylie recalled in the podcast and revealed how Jason reacted. “He texted back and said, ‘No, you have to work harder’.”
Kylie’s second attempt — “If I told you I worked for UPS, would you let me pick up your package?” — left him with an impression. At the time, none of Jason’s photos indicated that he was playing for the Philadelphia Eagles, but after a little digging on the Internet, Kylie learned the truth.
“My friends and I, of course, said, ‘That’s a catfish,'” she recalled. “So when he said, ‘You should meet me at this bar,’ my only friend who is my ride-or-die friend…she said, ‘We have to go because if it’s him, that’s funny (and) if it’s not him, it’s even funnier.’”
The couple’s first date didn’t go so smoothly – as some fans know, Jason was so drunk that he fell asleep in a bar — but the couple eventually hit it off. They got married in 2018, and a year later they had a daughter, Wyatt. Their family expanded with daughters Ellie and Bennett in 2021 and 2023, respectively.
Kylie and Jason announced in November 2024 that baby no. 4 — another girl — is on the way. “People put this weird pressure on the idea that my husband should have a boy because he’s going to follow in his footsteps and be a soccer player and have to play catch in the backyard,” Kylie said on Sunday. “I’m sorry to tell you, but our children play catch with him in the house all the time. He is fine.”
