The United Kingdom should host the 2035 World Cup in 2035 as the only “valid” bidder for the tournament, says Fifa President Gianni Infantino.
England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland submitted a common expression of interest in March to hold the World Cup in their home countries.
According to FIFA rotation rules, the tournament must be in Europe or Africa.
Spanish Federation President Rafael Louzan said last week that they “work on” a joint offer along with Portugal and Morocco.
However, the deadline for interest expressions adopted on Monday, and Infantino says that the UK offer was the only one received for 2035, while the United States was located to host the 2031 edition.
“Today, as part of the competition, I can confirm that we have received one offer for 2031 and one valid offer for 2035,” Infantino said at the UEFA Congress in Belgrade.
“The offer of 2031 is the United States of America and the potentially some other members of the Concacaf, and the offer 2035 from Europe and the domestic peoples.
“So the path is there that the Women’s World Cup in 2031 and 2035 takes place in some great nations and further enhances the women’s football movement.”
