Edtech Company Chegg has sued Google claimed that AI summaries of the search results have harmed traffic and revenues of Chegg.
In a lawsuit filed at the US District Court for Columbia District, Chegg accuses Google for unjust competition – especially reciprocal business, monopolary maintenance and unjust enrichment. Google, Chegg claims, forces companies to supply their contents to be included in Google search, unjustly exploiting their monopoly power in search to take advantage of the third-party IP advantages.
Chegg seeks compensatory damage and other forms of relief, as well as a ban on Google’s alleged “unlawful and dishonest” behavior.
Chegg is just the latest publisher who took a problem with Google’s efforts on Injection of Google Search With Ai.
