Ben Stiller and his wife, Christine Taylorthey are grateful to have found their way to each other.
The Zoolander actor, 59, and Taylor, 53, briefly split in 2017 before reunion during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, the couple – who share a daughter Ella22, and a son Quinlin19 — they don’t take a single day for granted.
“I think we both wanted it,” Stiller said of his reconciliation with Taylor during an appearance Thursday, Jan. 16, on View.
He continued: “In a relationship – we’ve been married for 25 years – you have to work at it. COVID happened and we all entered the house with our families. I am grateful. I am so grateful that we are together again.”
Stiller admitted that sometimes exes shouldn’t get back together because it’s “not the right thing to do,” but for him and Taylor, “it was the right thing to do.”
“Now, every day we are together, we don’t take it for granted. I know I don’t know,” said the comedian. “Because you know it could disappear. That, in my opinion, is a gift (of) our relationship that we have it every day. I’m so happy we’re (back together).”
Stiller also talked about his reunion with Taylor in the interview with The New York Times published on Saturday, January 11.
Stiller said his marriage was “not in a good place” after he moved back from California to New York after his release Zoolander 2a failure that “blindsided” Stiller.
“There was a lot going on,” Stiller said. “When we separated, I just had the space to see what our relationship was like, what my life was like when we weren’t in that relationship, how much I loved our family.”
“It’s been three or four years that we haven’t been together, but we’ve always been connected. In my mind, I never wanted us to be together,” he continued. “I don’t know where Christine has been, you’d have to ask her, but COVID has put us all together in the same house.”
In conversation with Drew Barrymore In 2023, Taylor he said reconciliation during the pandemic “was for us”.
“We got married very quickly,” Taylor recalled of their 2000 wedding. “We knew each other for six months, we got engaged. We were married within a year, and the next we had Ella.”
“I think about us, life itself, especially in this business and careers, a lot of work and family has always been a priority, but I think Ben and I started to grow in different directions,” she added.
